UNIQUE NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
“It’s so easy to have extraordinary networking opportunities here at DMGS. So many doors have been opened for me and I have already been connected to many people and organizations that I would not have even dared to imagine.”

DMGS offers unique opportunities to its students.
“The memory that will forever stand out to me is walking up the Blenheim Palace stairs in a ball-gown on what was my third day ever in another country. It was truly magical!”
Anna, DMGS Student – Class of 2019
Cambridge Security Initiative (CSI)
“I had the opportunity to study abroad in undergrad and found that learning about new perspectives and being immersed in different cultures is always a great experience.”
“When the opportunity presented itself to attend the Cambridge Security Initiative, I was thrilled to be able to study in the UK for the summer with some of the best and brightest on international intelligence, security, and cooperation. Top academics and practitioners from all areas of the world gave insight on the inner workings of the problems our globalized world is facing today. Having access to those panelists and speakers with their fresh perspectives from the other side of the Atlantic was an opportunity we likely would not have had in another program or venue.”
“Without the support of DMGS and its remarkable staff and faculty, we would not have been able to attend the Cambridge Security Initiative. DMGS strongly encouraged students to apply and once we were accepted granted a full scholarship to sponsor us during the program. I am forever grateful to DMGS for all it has done for me and will continue to do for me in the future long after I graduate.”

Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI)
“I wanted to utilize the skills I learned in classes as a master’s candidate at Daniel Morgan Graduate School in a real world setting. The opportunity presented by PSSI offered lectures covering a wide range of national security topics from NATO’s strategy to Russian aggression to how economic sanctions can be used for a political advantage. The lecturers has diverse backgrounds and included individuals from NATO, the EU, and academia.”
“The scenario in which all the participants participated throughout the week was the most helpful. All twenty-five participants were divided into five teams, and roleplayed a growing conflict in the Black Sea. This simulation reinforced my belief that simulations have a role in measuring the effectiveness of all the things you learn.”
“PSSI is one of the best think tanks with which I have ever interacted. The staff are friendly and have the goal of educating participants in national security topics. The fact that it is in the Czech Republic and students from across Europe come to participate adds to the immersion.”
“I’m grateful to DMGS for making me aware of the opportunity with PSSI and helping to support my trip through a generous scholarship.”

Networking Opportunities
“DMGS provided me the networking opportunity to intern with a think tank, the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), which has allowed me to learn how to work in the realm of policymaking and to become familiar with many of the experts in my field of interest: Asia-Pacific policy.”
“It was actually through the recommendation of one of the faculty at DMGS that I was able to enter my current internship. Since he knew my body of research was related to the topic that my organization was working on, he felt I was qualified for the position and put me in touch with NBR.”
“I would recommend that students make the most of the opportunities DMGS offers to network with professionals whenever they occur as you simply never know what may come of them. You may very well be able to connect with someone who can help you in advancing your academic and professional career. You may also be introduced to opportunities that you might not have initially viewed for yourself, but which provide an avenue into achieving your goals.”
“DMGS has assisted me with these opportunities through helping me to prepare elevator pitches and to revise my resume. I have been able to work with career services at the school to understand what kind of questions to ask and how to present myself to individuals at networking opportunities. Ultimately, DMGS’s staff have worked with me to better market my abilities to potential employers and partners.”

The Oxford Analytica Conference
“When I saw that DMGS was giving our students the opportunity to attend the Oxford Analytica Conference, I knew that I had to apply. Oxford has such a rich tradition of academic excellence, and I wanted to see it for myself.”
“The conference had sessions on a variety of topics with direct application to my studies, such as a changing global world order, Russia and the CIS, and Europe. Listening to experts speak about these topics helped me to understand issues affecting these areas better. I enjoyed the conference so much the first year that I applied to return for a second year and was chosen again! Both years, I had the opportunity to network with a variety of professionals in fields in which I am interested.”
“The conference culminates in a ball at Blenheim Palace, the palace that where Winston Churchill was raised. The grandness of the halls is striking, and was wonderful to see. The first year, the keynote speaker after dinner was Alexander Stubb, the former Prime Minister of Finland. This year, the speaker was Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO. Hearing others’ points of view and knowledge on topics such as Brexit and Russian influence in the West has given me a broader understanding of these topics and prompted me to think about how they fit within a global picture.”
“DMGS also made sure that we had at least one day in London to explore. I was able to see the Imperial War Museum and Churchill’s underground War Rooms! I would never have had the opportunity to go to the conference if it hadn’t been for DMGS.”
