Eric R. Eaton, Acting President
Eric R. Eaton is formerly Special Assistant to the President of Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, and Chief Financial Officer of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. In addition, Eric has served in senior finance and operating roles of several Fortune 100 companies including Western Union, Meredith Corporation, Time Warner, and Ernst & Young.
Eric has extensive experience in Publishing and Content Development, Entertainment, Financial Services, and Information Technology industries and possesses over thirty-five years of experience in the fields of International Business, Corporate Finance, Debt and Equity Financing, Production and Procurement, International Treasury, and Taxation. In addition, Eric has played integral roles in developing and growing start-up / early stage businesses as well as successful turnaround and restructuring initiatives for a wide range of companies.
Eric is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Eric has readily contributed his expertise to academia as an adjunct professor of business administration and as a lecturer.
Eric attended Northwestern University studying Economics and subsequently graduated from Howard University, in Washington, DC, with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Eric’s post-graduate work included executive development study at the Harvard Business School. Eric and his wife Sheryl recently relocated to the Washington, DC area and are the parents of three adult children.
A Message from Eric Eaton, our Acting President

A new year is upon us, bringing with it new opportunities, new challenges and—I can confidently predict—a new list of accomplishments for the School and for the students who make us proud.
2018 was an extraordinary time in the history of our country and the world: continuing global terrorist threats, mid-term elections, the southern border refugee crisis, and climate talks among world leaders. These issues have created polarized reactions, divisive talk, and unanswered questions about the best way forward. It all can seem frustrating and frightening.
But in times of strife and uncertainty, the most important thing we can do is take steps to effect positive change and move forward. That’s why I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security (DMGS) into 2019 and beyond. At DMGS, we develop today’s and tomorrow’s national security leaders through tailored and career focused programs.
To that end, we remain committed to earning our accreditation, introducing new programs, expanding or improving on initiatives already in existence, and engaging with new partnerships to enhance the education we provide. As the semester gets underway, I wish each of you success in your studies and in your own professional and personal growth.
