Marks explains, “What intelligence is ultimately about is the collection of information and making sense of that information. Young people come to me and they ask me what to do to have a career in intelligence, and they always have this Bond thing in mind . . . but their are a lot of different roles to be played and a lot of different careers that are available. . . There are so many different kinds of jobs now.”

Chris Costa Discusses Counterterrorism during the First Year of the Trump Administration at a Special Daniel Morgan Graduate School Event

Giving consideration to the terrorist threat from the Maghreb to the Philippines, Costa drew particular attention to the demise of the physical caliphate – the complexities of the fight in the milieu that is Syria – and what the threat might look like in the future. He also discussed his views on the greatest causes for concern going forward including the significant threat and vulnerabilities to civil aviation and mass transit.

The conference featured Dr. Michael Sharnoff, the Director of Regional Studies at Daniel Morgan Graduate School, who moderated one panel on Syria and delivered a paper in another panel on Saudi-Israel relations. Keynote speakers included the Hon. Mithal Al-Alusi, an Iraqi politician and leader of the Ummah Party.
