Order of the Sword & Shield National Honor Society

The Daniel Morgan Graduate School of National Security was granted chartership of the Order of the Sword and Shield National Honor Society. The Order of the Sword and Shield (ΟΣΣ) was created in 2010 and is the first and only honor society for Homeland Security, Intelligence, Emergency Management, and all Protective Security Disciplines. It is both an academic and professional organization dedicated to fostering critical thinking, high scholarship, and professional development for those invested in the security of our nation.

Charter membership with ΟΣΣ recognizes DMGS’ superior academic achievements and provides students a forum to share their thoughts and ideas regarding issues in the disciplines. Students of charter members are given various opportunities to attend informational events and network with professionals and other students interested in the various academic disciplines.

The qualifications for membership include:

Completion of ONE HALF (1/2) of the total number of credits required for your overall program, including completion of ONE HALF (1/2) of all credits in the Homeland Security, Intelligence, Emergency Management, or Protective Studies A.S., B.S., Minor, Masters, Doctoral, or Certificate program; and

Have achieved an overall 3.25 (undergraduate) or a 3.50 (graduate) cumulative GPA or higher (on a scale of 4.0) for ALL CREDITS, including transfer credits, or be in the top 20% of your class standing; and

Submit all required information, supporting documents with references, and appropriate fees. DMGS currently has three active members in ΟΣΣ and is always encouraging individuals to apply once they have met the minimum qualifications.
